How to book your CASA PEXO exam

Aspeq is the official exam provider for CASA, this is where you will sit your exam once you feel ready!

PEXO is the computer system used for the exam, that will be accessed at your nominated Aspeq or Flight School (depending on which exam you are sitting).

Below is a step-by-step guide to get your CASA PEXO exam booked!

1.

Before you book anything, first check with your flight school. Some exams such as the RPL and the PPL exam can be done ‘in house’ and the flight school generally will make the booking.

Once you are ready to book, ensure you have an ARN, as this is one of the requirements of sitting a PEXO exam.

Exam costs are generally around $95 for RPL, $115 for PPL and vary for CPL and extraneous exams.

2.

Once you are ready, visit the Aspeq website here, this is where you can register or log in to book your exam, or where you can find more information. Some handy things you can find on the website are:

3.

Once your exam is booked you can always change it (for a fee of $26.74), but make sure you change it at least 96 hours (4 days) before the session start time, as you might have to pay an extra fee.

If you are sick and can’t make an exam then you may receive a free complimentary re-book, provided you submit a medical certificate.

TIPS

Be On Time!

You may enter the building up to 30 minutes prior to your booking. The second the invigilator closes that door to start, they aren’t going to open it again.

Say goodbye to your possessions.

You’ll be required to store your phone and watch at the front of the room for the whole duration of the exam.

Don’t try to be sneaky

The aviation industry frowns upon cheating, this is reflected in the PEXO exams. The invigilator checks every one of your prescribed materials upon entry, and if you are caught with things you shouldn’t have, or having a sneaky peek at someone else during your exam, you can be banned for 2 years.

Take all the prescribed Materials

You can find the list of prescribed materials here. We highly recommend you take all of these in, as a question asked can require the use of any of them.

Limited attempts

You generally have 3-4 attempts at an exam, if you fail all of them, you’ll be locked out for a duration of time (up to 2 years). You also only have 2 years to complete all 7 CPL or ATPL subjects!
